Introduction

In view of the fact that there were very few facilities to cater for the many patients receiving cancer therapy in Myanmar, Right Healthcare incorporated a new service for medical oncology treatment- Right Medical & Onco Care Centre. Not only did we create a conducive environment where the patients receiving treatment would feel comfortable similar to their natural setting at home, we also ensured that reliable and appropriate support services such as laboratory tests and special infusion pumps to administer medication, were provided to ensure the best possible treatment for the patients, to a standard comparable to overseas medical oncology centres.

Location and Facilities
Right Medical & Onco Care Centre is located in a spacious environment at the Diamond Condominium building , on Pyay Road , Yangon, where the treatment facilities boasts of special oncology treatment chairs or patient beds, subject to the patients’ preference. A subsidiary centre was also opened in Mandalay , providing similar services and operates under the banner of Mon Myat Medical Center.
Environment
The patient undergoes treatment in these comfortable , customized chemotherapy chairs or beds in air-conditioned rooms with entertainment facilities included, to pass the time . The patients also have a choice of using shared rooms( 2-3 patients per room) or single rooms to enjoy privacy surrounded by their family and loved ones.

Specialists and Oncologists consultation services

Right Medical & Onco Care Centre , following its mission of providing quality healthcare services introduced one of the first Pharmacy Isolators for use in private practice in Myanmar.
This step was taken to ensure that the standard of care was maintained in the preparation of the chemotherapeutic drugs and done in a sterile and safe environment for the benefit of the patients as well as preventing contamination to the medications being prepared and containing the hazardous effects of the drugs through long term exposure by the pharmacists. -
Pharmacy & Pharmacists
At Right Medical & Onco Care Centre, we ensure that only FDA approved and internationally accepted chemotherapeutic agents are utilized and if necessary , they will be sourced from overseas locations in order to provide the best options for the patient.
Temperature regulated storage facilities also follow strict guidelines according to norms set for any international oncology centre and all the preparations for chemotherapy is prepared by trained and qualified pharmacists under the direct instrucvtions of the attending specialist.

Infusion pumps
The administration of all chemotherapy is done using infusion pumps and syringe pumps in order to maintain accurate dosage and rate of administration and minimize untoward reactions or side effects of poorly controlled drug administration.

Support staff
Care will be delivered by a dedicated team of trained Medical Officers, Nurses, Technicians and Qualified Pharmacists who can take care of individuals in all aspects of their treatment.

Counseling
The centre provides the counseling for both patients and relatives by trained counselors, before , during or after treatment sessions , subject to the patients’ needs.

Awareness Programmes
We invite speakers who are specialists at their profession respectively to convey knowledge and understanding to both medical and non medical audiences. This effort is further enhanced through the use of the media to communicate with a wider audience and create awareness.

Support Groups and Assistance
We organize support groups consisting of patrients who have fought cancer and survived and also thos currently undergoing treatment and include their relatives or friends in thiese groups.
One such example is RMOCC’s creation of the Make-A-Wish club , whose role is to fulfill the wishes for ANY patient who suffer cancer. This is an opportunity to giver renewed hope and raise their spirit—thereby providing an opportunity to enjoy life again.
